花野井くんと恋の病 Vol. 1 | Free to read through Nov 9 (JST)

Welcome to the open beta (#2) of the Speed Run Book Club!
Heartily plagiarized from @shitsurei’s original Speed Run Club, thank you shitsurei-senpai.

Based on a crazy idea thought up in the IMC thread, we will aim to read some of the 3 currently available free to read volumes before the time limit is over on Invalid date.

The free to read volumes can be found at Bookwalker, and possibly other places as well. Below you will find the Bookwalker links.
Volume 1
Volume 2
Volume 3

This manga has been praised for its healthy relationship development, twists and turns, strong secondary characters, and general sweet and wholesome atmosphere.

The only schedule that this club has is that the book will no longer be free to read at Invalid date. Feel free to continue to use the threads after this date if you’re reading this in the future. Also, hi from the past! :waving_hand:

Will you be joining us?
  • Yes! :growing_heart:
  • I’m just here for the discussion.
  • I’m joining after the club has ended. :stopwatch:
  • No.. :stop_sign:

Please use this thread for volume 1. All spoilers should go behind blurred spoiler tags or in the a hide details drop down.

Aaah, I voted several times for this manga, but atm I’m quite busy/lazy  Maybe I’ll read some next week when we’ll have an additional day off…
Anyway, everybody, go, go. go!

Hmm I’ll have a look at the first 2 chapters and then decide if I want to jump in again. Will update later.

Cute so far. 花野井くん is kinda a lot, but I can see ほたる as a good balance for him.

I miss his long hair though :sob:

Why has it become a thing that someone in a speedrun book club manga always have to cut their hair

Oooohhh! Another speedrun club  I’m in, this time it even has furigana!

Could we maybe do a home thread or something in the future? So we can set it to watching and get pings when a new club starts?

Anyway, love you all for doing speed run book clubs :))

Are you already watching the IMC thread? It got announced over there
Maybe if we have a 3rd speed run book club, we can officially make it a thing, can also be now, just need a volunteer :grimacing:

Read the first chapter (around p.70, I think?).

Summary

And this time the worst betrayel already happened in the first chapter! why is he cutting his nice and longish hair to have the same hairstyle as everybody else? :sob: I’m very fond of long haired guys, why do they always have to cut their hair :frowning: At least he got his piercings back ^^

But honestly, what’s up with they guy here, my “bad news” radar is off the charts. the scene where he called her on the phone and she asked where he is while looking out of the window, I was expecting him to watch her from the streets all stalker-like  is it just me or is he way to obsessed and likely to become even more unhealthily obsessed in the future?

Ohhh, you guys will love this manga as I have ^v^ (maybe)

A bit of a trigger warning, but yeah, the male lead is definitely a bit yandere (that’s what attracted me to the manga because I’m into that genre), so it might not be for everyone ^v^

ah, lol, so I got the correct vibe  not that I mind stuff like that, but never seen the appeal. Now that I look at the natively page, it’s even tagged like that  i just went in blind and thought “well that male lead is a bit on the way too obsessed side”

Anybody knows if there’s a story behind how this manga came to be? Just wondering, as it seems like every chapter has a different author:

That doesn’t look like the same one I read
It looks like an anthology of first chapters from a bunch of different manga, not the first volume of this one

This is my one

Haha that’s funny, no idea where I have it from then. Good that I noticed / you replied before I finished chapter 1!

Hahaha, yep, I love that stuff :face_with_peeking_eye:

This manga is on the lighter side, so nothing too crazy. And they even make his obsession a bit of a joke/comedy relief. It’s just a shoujo after all ^v^

no need to look like :face_with_peeking_eye:, I bet we all have our “interesting niche” and yandere is quite popular  but I know, I would look the same if I would share my favorite things ^^

Aay bet, this ones at my level, I’ll give at least the first volume a shot and see how I feel.

Okay, I read the first chapter. It’s easy, but I’m a little over the school setting and their dynamic doesn’t really catch me much. At the beginning, I thought I can totally relate to ほたる, but the author kinda went overboard with her characterization.
The guy isn’t my cup of tea either. Probably a “they heal each other together type of story?”

So I sit this one out. Will keep an eye on the threads and discussions, though. Maybe the story develops differently to what I imagine.

I can still stomach it, but I am finding I’m enjoying school settings/shoujo less and less as time passes. I can totally see myself completely losing interest in the next few years or so

It is pretty much that, yeah (together with the rest of their friends/family. So “everyone healing everyone else” kind of story :stuck_out_tongue: )
