至る, but 到 means arrival?

Please help me get this vocab into my head.

至 means attain, while 到 means to arrive.
However, 至る means to arrive, which to me seems quite counter intuitive. Every time I see this vocab I just go “wait, that’s not the kanji for arrival, so it’s not to arrive”. And then I just enter something else like “to attain” or w/e.

Does anyone have a clear concise explanation to how this is logical? Or should I just accept my fate and assume this will be my eternal nemesis?

Short answer, いたる basically means arrive and the main meaning of 至 is いたる, so it basically does mean arrival.

到’s meaning is also いたる, and writing 到る is a non-joyo reading but it exists.

Add arrival as a user synonym for 至 if you like.
