義 radical for righteousness

the radical for righteousness only uses two of the component shapes and completely ignores the rest. not sure why this is, but here’s what I’ve used:

The Horned-King uses his Hand to pat the Drunkard on the back. ‘There, there’, he says. “I’ll show you the way to Righteousness”

No, it certainly uses all of them, the bottom one is “ego”

The bottom part of the radical is 我, which is the character for “I” in Chinese and われ in Japanese. That might also help with a mnemonic.


Edit: As @Gorbit99 mentioned, the bottom is the radical ego on WaniKani.

thank you! I had been away from WK for several weeks and clearly forgot about the ego radical entirely. definitely makes a lot more sense now.

The nice thing about this radical is that kanji using it will almost always be read as ぎ
