I got my hands on the Vita “Evolution” version. I can’t decide if I should play it instead.
Pros of the Evolution version:
- Voice acting. It’s always nice to have some listening practice
- Higher resolution, text is sharp
- There seem to be some quality-of-life improvements in the UI although I haven’t played enough to know if they matter much. I do like being able to display the various exit points of the current area with the press of a button. Makes it easier to orient in the city for instance.
Cons:
- I don’t like the new portraits. I find the static 2D ones much more charming
- I find the colors a lot more washed out, I prefer the contrast of the low res textures. Everything looks a bit flat and greyish so far in the new version.
Not sure:
- The music has been redone. Seems decent so far but I don’t have a big enough sample to judge.
