Still finishing up the final chapter, but overall I thought it was a fun read. Though it certainly could have been better, it was interesting and amusing enough such that I really didn’t feel bored reading it at all. Considering that @Shadowlauch said the second volume is more interesting I would love to pick it up at some point (even if just to read it in English) but as for the book club, I would rather continue with the main book club since I don’t even have the time to add another spin-off club lol.
If I have any questions after I finish the final chapter I’ll post them in the relevant thread, and after that I’ll be joining everyone for the next book.

I’ve been internet deprived for the last several months so now that I have a few days of service I figured I’d check back in and share some of my thoughts!
I was kind of surprised to see the lukewarm response because I really enjoyed this. I thought some of the chapters were genuinely touching— there was something about the contrast between Kasane’s inability to experience the bugs and her persistence in researching them that struck a chord with me. While on the surface the stories seemed lighthearted and fun, Kasane’s condition evoked a sense of loneliness and isolation that I found intriguing. In a way it gave her the ability to view the bugs in a more analytical way, but it obviously came at a steep price.
I was excited to come back to internet to see that there’s a second volume. Like others have also said, I tend to prefer stories that aren’t so episodic, but I’ve read enough Manga at this point to see several examples of the first volume focusing on character establishment and world building before a larger narrative emerges, so I want to see where this goes.
