相槌 aizuchi007

I am trying to tackle the figurative Elephant in my Japaneses learning room and face my arch nemesis Listening comprehension. So as much as my brain can take it I am trying to listen to Japanese Audio. I found this podcast on Spotify called SBS Podcast. I recently noticed how interviewers know to refrain from 相槌 and everyday people muddle the recording with it. This particular episode sounds like someone is playing a soft core pornography video in the background while the speaker talks about cooking.

とにかく! If you have any Japanese pod casts you like, please post them. My main squeeze used to be Japanese Pod 101, but they are so formal and easy to understand, I want something real to remind me I know nothing about Japanese.

Thanks!

I just listen to the NHK news podcast, it comes in short bits and the same news tends to happen over and over again.

However, and most importantly, people talk about listening comprehension but it’s so hard to gauge if you’ve actually understood something, so what I like to do, since this is news, and generally much of the news also exists in English, is see how much of it I understood by trying to quiz myself on it and using the English news to check as answers / see what I didn’t understand.

I listened to a bit of bilingual news today, until it was too fast and hurt my brain (about 2 minutes). I think I’m going to like it.
