漢検満点! Going for Gold! Perfect score on all levels of the Kanji Kentei Tests (Study Log)

Ok, here are the kanji that I wrote since March 4th:

This is yesterday:

My mum said that I had to turn off my laptop at 9 pm from now on because I’m spending too much time on it, and suddenly, I had time for handwriting again yesterday :see_no_evil: Unfortunately, I wasn’t perpared for that, so I wasn’t able to learn the stroke order of new kanji to practice them, which is why I practiced some older ones instead.

print out some of those ちびむすドリル pages! They’re great.

Also, good for you that you’re turning off your laptop a bit earlier, the late night blue light really isn’t good for our bodies. And great job writing!

I love when the last review of my deck is something I have absolutely no clue about. It happens to me surprisingly often. Today’s was a 四字熟語 completion 言語(道断). I had zero idea and no chance to practice it again. In these cases I’ll mark fail then mark it again as hard or good so that I see it sooner.

Today’s difficult kanji was 装. I couldn’t produce it for the life of me!

Slow, sleepy day for me today. Working two jobs 6 days a week takes a lot of energy. That’s why I’m glad I figured out how to study effectively for an hour. I seriously didn’t want to do any studying today, but it’s just one hour. I was able to convince myself quite easily – just go to the net cafe, get some tea, and do an hour. Just. One. Hour.

I’m glad your pace is working for you. I always find that the biggest enemy of consistent studying (or consistent anything really) is making too many commitments/having too high of a baseline and then dropping off during busy or less motivated times.

Got a new colour palette for my goodnotes yesterday, which inspired me to do some random fourth grade kanji studies

From now on my studying will be much more :sparkles:aesthetic :sparkles: than before (not sure it does anything for my efficiency, but as long as it’s fun haha)

僕の練習の写真を見せてみたい。

They are not very well written, my goal was to try to find the correct answers, the day of the actual test I’ll need to write in proper 楷書 style.

It was for 八級, and I had 15 errors :-\

This is gorgeous. I love the colors and like always your characters are pretty. 億 is damn near the same as the model (I’ll pretend I don’t see the fourth one :stuck_out_tongue: )

@YanagiPablo Yes!! That’s what I’m talking about. Reduce the errors to 10, then 5, then 0! Go for gold :sunglasses: Good stuff.

Thank you for looking at it so closely and for your kind words!

I like to switch between writing carefully and writing quickly, just for practice (and also so it doesn’t take as long).

I figured out that I’ve been holding my pen the way I’m used do for German or English – I usually write cursive with a fountain pen, so the pen is at an angle and I’m “pulling” the lines.
If I hold my pen in a more Japanese way (as I’ve observed it, not claiming any factuality), meaning almost vertical with the whole arm moving – think ball pen instead of fountain pen – my lines get a bit wobbly, especially the long, straight ones, but the overall balance has become much better. I think holding my pen the “European” way invites a bit of an horizontal imbalance, both because that’s what that pen hold is made for and because of the decades of muscle memory behind it.

Yeah, it seems like exactly what you said – the way you hold the pen + posture – has a huge impact on being able to write the characters. It’s freaking amazing how these things make such a big difference.

The way I hold pens is jank as hell even by western standards. It’s amazing I can write anything at all. I really want to work on that but it’s not a priority right now. One day…

Some days I get exercises where I’m on fire and it doesn’t matter what comes my way, I can intuit any kanji / word and I feel unstoppable. Other days it’s the opposite and I feel like I’ve never studied this language before in my life.

Luckily, today was the former. I somehow only missed two problems and got everything that I had to intuit, or found difficult, correct!

Reviews on the other hand… :smirk:

I took a bit of time off for person stuff, but I managed to get some writing practice in

I ordered a Kuru Toga pencil.

Whoa that’s a lot. My hands start hurting just looking at it.

It was over a few days while watching TV. I’m really loving the new pencil. It writes smoothly and seems to glide more than my regular mechanical pencil.

Today’s work. I started writing down the answers to my Anki kanji cards in the hope of remembering the readings more easily. There were a lot of reviews today.

Do you find it difficult keeping up with Anki SRS on top of Wanikani? I would like to do the Anki Decks, but I’m already doing Wanikani and Bunpro so I have a lot of reviews.
