JP summary
EN summary
In the spring of 1936, 20-year-old Natsumi receives a marriage proposal from Takiaki Masashi, who works for the Imperial Navy. Suddenly, she is married to a Navy husband. The two, who are (quite) unfamiliar with the house as well as with men and women, begin their life as a married couple with a maximum degree of purity! When the sea breeze blows, I think of you. A story of a couple living in prewar Japan, spring, summer, fall, and winter, humble but gentle.
There is a drama adaptation that ran last year based on this manga as well!
Since this is a speed run book club, the formal end of this book club will occur on 2026-03-06T14:59:00Z, but feel free to continue with us afterwards, and if you’d be interested in continuing with a spin-off book club for the remaining volumes, let us know and the threads can be created!

- Joining after the book club has finished!

I finished this volume as well. The second speed run club I completed. It feels like the participation this time wasn’t that great, though.
My thoughts for the chapters
15: poor 瀧昌 getting 無言の抗議ed
16: Real nice chapter. 銭湯 and then a walk after. Near perfect day. If they had seen the fireflies it would have been perfect.
17: My favorite chapter. Had to laugh out loud when he was saying うんこ to the customers XD. Also fun how the kid always goes “a” and then adds some です、ください etc. as keigo after. Also interesting how good he is with kids even though he thinks of himself as being bad with them
.
18: London written with Kanji is certainly a choice. Bad times coming. Hindsight of what is in store in the years to come makes this a tougher read. Would be interested in the 某ドラマ the author got her information from.
19: The information bit at the end sounds an awful lot like today’s social media. Times do change, but people apparently still are the same…
20: No smoke is bad for everyone! Interesting tidbit of information on the accident that cost 119 lives.
21: Poor 芙美子, she seems real great. I can’t believe they stop the volume at such a cliffhanger. Not even in the outlook of the next volume do we get closure.
Bottom right 令嬢風
I wrote the eact same.
The text density in this volume felt higher, but looking at your mokuro stats it seems to be the same as volume 2. Maybe I feel that way since I read it in one sitting?
Did you count the information pieces and afterwords/おまけ etc. as well?
I think I’ll at least try the drama and see how far the adaptation goes. Will be advantageous for my listening as well.

I mean… we do have another week of it being free…
I think one of the problems of the speed run club is that because people are reading at vastly different speeds that it’s less of a community than it is for weekly clubs..
Maybe it would make sense to have discussion at the end of all the free volumes?
Although there are always some people who only read some of what is free, so maybe not the best idea?
I personally am only through the first volume and am planning to read 2 and 3 between now and the 6th (although I bought #3 because it was on sale and I had some points expiring anyway, so I’m less rushed for that one
)
