Well, the major difference is the point of view. The novel is told from マイン’s perspective, but the anime, by nature, has to be external. I guess it makes it harder to transmit what マイン is feeling about the world, what she is misunderstanding, etc.
Things were also reordered around for the purpose of story flow.

i started reading and i kinda regret watching the anime. now i only need to read 40 pages for next two weeks so i can catch up :P. so far i’m enjoying the book much more than the anime.
Hm, that’s also the comments I have seen online. It seems to go novel > manga > anime.
Moving on to volume 3! This week, Frida Frida Frida.
Me: I’ll be reading ahead once we finish book 2
Also me: hasn’t started book 3 at all
yay finished book one. as expected my reading speed is supper slow and reading takes too much energy. (and i shouldn’t have watched gate over the weekend)
finished book 2! i feel like i’m on the fast track for light novel addiction…
i lookup exactly 2000 words…(unique words i think) it’s honestly too much.
Discussing important topics, this time around.
