崩壊 has incorrect Kenichi pronunciation?

I just studied this item and noticed that the male voice pronounces it like ぼうかい, while female voice says ほうかい. The correct reading of the vocabulary is also ほうかい so it sounds like a mispronunciation? Is it just me?

It sounds like ほうかい to me, but agreed that it doesn’t sound like they say Hs the exact same way. Actually, if anything, I’d say his sounds closer to おうかい than ぼうかい

There’s definitely something a bit odd in the Ken’ichi recording, but I don’t think he actually says ぼう. It sounds like the recording cuts in abruptly, which may cause a “pop” in the audio output, sounding similar to a plosive P or B consonant. (If the very start of the word is cut off, that would also explain why some people hear おう.)

I heard Boukai the first time and then Houkai the second and third times I listened to it. I think it’s more a thing brains do, when a processing things, like when you play a recording and can hear two different things, and it will change if you are reading different things while listening. You are hearing the same thing, but you brain processes it differently, because brains are weird.

Aka do you hear boukai or houkai?

Glad it’s not ほんかい.

Hey indutny-wani! I’m hearing a lack of the aspirate H sound at the beginning of Kenichi’s recording, and it does sound to me a bit like おうかい. I don’t think it warrants a re-recording, but Kenichi has some peculiar traits to his voice, like the nasal が, that certainly makes his recordings unique at times. But, you’ll most likely come across these idiosyncrasies in the wild as well, so good to have them!
