右腕 is Level 26 but 左腕 and 両腕 are both 24. Is this an error or is there some other rationale behind it? I looked up 右腕 using the Wanikani search, because I’m in level 24 right now and was using the Advanced lesson chooser (which I really enjoy btw) to see where 右腕 was so I could clear that out as well, and discovered it was in 26.
They might have wanted to separate these items to avoid confusing during learning - so you focus on learning left arm first and then right arm?
But we learned left and right long ago.
They are visually similar though. They’ve been moving other vocab, similar to this example, for the same reason.
I don’t mind this type of thing - it spaces things out in the SRS queue. It’s less about remembering right from left, you aren’t gonna mix those up by level 24. But if you have just learned 腕 and you learn these three vocabulary in one session, if you get even one of them right you are going to be reminded of the others and get all 3 correct for sure. With this, they’re less likely to occur in the same review session. I don’t know if that was the intended logic but I prefer it for that reason.
Bold of you to assume I know my right from my left. I’ve been level 60 for years, and I still have to think about which is which.
You get your Covid jab in 左腕 so you learn it first. The 右腕 is reserved for future pandemics.
of course, I should have thought of that one! XD
And I bet you never touched your reviews in years as well
If this is the reason, its a horrible one. If you don’t know right vs left you should fail these reviews and no artificial hint such as staggered appearance should be given to help you pass them.
I know 右 is right, but I don’t always know what right is.
That makes you, what… chaotic neutral?
