作者 vs 作家

Both tell me author, but there gotta be some nuances.
Anyone knows?

There is! (A nuance, I mean)
作者 is the author of a specific work (the person who made the thing)
作家 is a job, someone who write books for a living.

Ah, thanks!
I save the link for later, when I can read it without hovering over every word to get it translated.

作者 is the umbrella term for someone who engages in anything form of writing composition; novelists, magazine writers, play writers, anime script writers, etc.

A 作家 is a professional writer, like J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, etc.

So 作家 are 作者, but not all 作者 are 作家.

Edit: Wait what, I’m seeing time stamps for 5 minutes ago but they just appeared for me. O.o

Yeah, that has happened before to me too. The forum doesn’t refresh very often, apparently (by which I mean it may take a few minutes).
