“This word has a slightly old-fashioned feel, and it’s usually used for small villages in the countryside.” surprised that the mnemonic ‘Hamlet’ isn’t used as that seems to perfectly match the description and village is used elsewhere. Not sure if Hamlet is a well-known word in other English speaking countries, I’m in the UK.

I think especially non-native speakers might be confused as to where Shakespeare comes into play (pun accidental but I’m owning it now)

I’m not a native speaker but I well aware what Hamlet means. I think I’ve learned this word from a board game or a novel perhaps.

Sounds like a tiny ham, to be honest. Like Steaklet.
