Hi everyone! I was wondering how it happened that ‘one+body’ got this meaning? Can you suggest where to look for this info? Thanks
If I were to guess, it’s probably ateji.
I’m not so sure about that.
Just looking at the meanings, it seems like you can logically flow from “one body” to “unity” to “generally” or “as a whole” and then that just gets used for emphasis in questions.

No, though they share some sounds, one is of Chinese origin and the other Japanese.
