I finished Ruri Dragon a year and a month after starting it! I had a long break and had to restart in Jan/Feb and finished it in about 8-10 weeks I think?
I didn’t get a chance to post in any of the weekly threads but I’ve been getting a lot of help from frequent posters from the ones asking to the ones correcting. So thanks a lot to everyone who contributed!
There were moments that were very challenging for me but I really enjoyed the experience and I’m ready for my next manga! One thing I’ll probably try to do for the next one is do my own translations before reading through the weekly threads. I feel like I used the threads as a crutch way too much than I should have. Lesson learned!

I’m not sure I can recommend translating everything, but trying to figure out the parts you have problems with before looking them up in the thread seems pretty valuable to me. But don’t be too hard on yourself if it turns out to be too hard or too time consuming - you’ll learn lots of stuff either way.
Definitely one of my worries is that translating everything on my own would be too time consuming which would lead to me dropping the manga again. I’m still trying to gauge this ABBC’s pick whether it would be plausible for me to do that. I do need to constantly remind myself not to be too hard on myself, not just on the language learning front, so thanks for the reminder also!
Had to revive this thread after all these years to say thank you to all the people posting and answering questions, especially to @Gorbit99. In the beginning I was having a pretty hard time wrapping my head around, uh, everything, but I quickly came to appreciate the wealth of information that’s available on the book club. It took a while, but I was finally able to get through the entire first volume, and it did get easier over time. The fact I got to level 60 in the meantime probably helped too haha but I’m feeling really motivated to keep going! Pretty sure it won’t take me nearly as long to catch up–looking forward to reading the offshoot threads, and thanks again!
