Interesting element that the police is not doing a great job at hiding in the hotel this time around. I wonder if the killer will notice them before they notice him / her.
And fun proposal that Naomi got from her boss, maybe the next book will happen in L.A.? x)
日下部 falling for 緑 was quite unexpected. I thought he would be 渡米 already (look at me flexing my newly learned vocab).
For some reason now I am starting to suspect him a bit. He is so gross and disgusting, I wonder why he is even here (as in, still in the book). Also previous fiancee said that they met 3 years ago, and previous cold case was also three years old I think? He seems also to like young beautiful women and I can see him being a sociopath.
Hm, but he hadn’t planned on joining the NYE party and the informant said that he would, so that probably doesn’t add up after all.
Erratum after reading chapter 19: now I know why he was there. This was to put Nitta and Naomi on 緑’s track.
Making an image searching for フラットトップ was hilarious. 80% were of a hair cut, and 20% of the results were about the lighter (which can be bought here).
I didn’t understand what was the problem with the 文庫 book in 緑’s room? Something about the book being a hard cover version and not a pocket version and why would you travel with that?
In that case, maybe that’s just a gift they got from someone or they bought it a long time ago and now was a good time to read it, not everybody buys a book right before traveling, are you trying to shame people that have a 積読, Nitta / Higashino? è_é
It’s cute to see Naomi and Nitta hanging out so much. And now, this part ends with each having something they haven’t told the other ones, things are getting spicy. (and poor dance teacher will probably have to wait until after NYE to get her lunch date)
A very bad job it seems like. I don’t remember if they actually did a good job in book number 1 though
It was LA which 新田 spent time in when younger too, right?
I kinda of half understand it, since they said that there was a bunko version coming out imminently, and the points he made about if they were such a big reader they would have just binged the whole book at home first (for Japanese people who are obviously faster than us and can do such things
). I never really take hardcover Japanese books anywhere with me, I usually have a bunkobon/kindle when travelling because the hardcovers just take up so much space. I have the hardcover of this one from the library and I don’t take it on trains or travelling etc. If I was rich enough to afford the ridiculous prices of room service/hotels here in this place which costs more than my monthly salary in Japan for a few days stay, I wouldn’t think twice about 買い直し for the 文庫 version in a train station/airport bookshop etc.
Was it actually released yet though? Because if the bunko wasn’t released yet then all of his points are irrelevant anyway
Although having said that, the way that he hones in on it as some kind of definite thing rather than maybe just a personal preference is a bit weird, yes. Still seems more likely she was just in the middle of reading it, and all the other stuff he found out immediately after was much more important and conclusive anyway.
Yes!
