ハイキュー・Haikyuu! 🏐 (Beginner Book Club) - Week 3

Hey all,
My dad is in hospital, I’ve been really distracted and I’ve not been able to finish this weeks chapter.
I’ll try to catch up by the end of next week though.

Have fun at the read aloud today.

Hope your dad feels better soon, too :pensive:
I’ve been far too busy with work to start this chapter this week, unfortunately. Hope to catch up by next weekend.

Had a lot of fun at my first week! Y’all are so good!

Feel free to let me know if I was too jokey tho! I want to match the energy y’all created!

Best wishes to your dad and your family @lucylavelle.

Of course not! I for one appreciated the energy of Tanaka being so faithfully brought to life

Hey, everybody…caught up to the end of the chapter. Really enjoyed the wig bit.

Really noticed how much we’re using なんて so going to do some more reading about that. Never really encountered this grammar much.

One thing I wanted to throw up was this line.
I dont understand the に particle here. I find some explainers for どんなに…ても which kinda seems like a different thing? Can someone clear up why the に is here?

it’s literally “how much”. even in shinmeikai it’s listed as

どんなに[1]
(副)
「どれほど」の意の日常語的表現。

but to be fair it’s neither in 大辞泉/明鏡

nvm it was in どんな

②《「─に」の形で》程度の分からないことをいって、それを強調する。「私が─に怒っているか君は知るまい」「ご両親が─にか(=大変に)お喜びでしょう」

translation: used when you don’t know the amount and you need to emphasis on it
