 so book club will start roughly in July?

Ahaha, you’re very welcome! It’s kind of fun parsing out words, though I’ve had a couple of mini rants about the childish speech myself just doing chapter 1, lol.

Looking forward to starting!

I’m sure other’s have had this issue as well, but Amazon doesn’t let you use Amazon.co.jp if you have an address in another country. Personally, I just bought a version through Amazon.ca, but it cost me twice as much

Is there a way to bypass this?

I think ill give this a shot

I didn’t have an issue with using the japanese site, I live in Canada. Also just in case something pops up and it ends up not working, could you link the japanese version on amazon canada please?

See, the problem I had is that I couldn’t log into Amazon.co.jp at all. As far as I could tell, Amazon was telling me that “this account doesn’t exit”. After searching online, I found that this happens to everyone who tries to do this, for some reason. Link is below.

I recommend buying the used ones, you can find them for good condition and get them for the same price as the one from Amazon.co.jp.

You just need to set up another account for amazon.co.jp, I think. You can’t use your account from another Amazon site.

I don’t think it will let me. Amazon will ask for your address, and my address will be a Canadian one.

I have a Canadian address too, I had no problem ordering.

Yep, when it got to the point that I needed to enter my address, there was a link on that page that I had to click to be able to enter an international address, but it went just fine. Amazon.co.jp is definitely totally fine with foreigners opening accounts and shipping internationally. During checkout it gave me the option to charge my US credit card in either USD or JPY, it’s all good. (I chose JPY because that card has no fees for foreign currency transactions.)

For those in the U.S., I was able to purchase a Japanese language version at the U.S. Amazon link here.

You can also buy it used. They are usually in a very good condition

Just got my copy after ordering it at the same place that @ rumyrrh247 suggested. Looks good, except they printed it backwards… with the binding on the right (joke ) Honestly, since this was my first Japanese book, that was a bit of a surprise. It also seems that you read the frames from right to left, top to bottom. Right?

Correct! Traditionally, Japanese is written top to bottom, right to left, and manga panels reflect to an extent with their layout. It should flow fairly intuitively if you keep that in mind, but if you run into any issues figuring out which panel comes next when we start reading, just let us know.

I actually did end up having issues with using the Japanese site as it didn’t register the order for some reason, so I had to buy it off of the Canadian site.

Ok, should we decide on a date? The しろくまカフェ Vol 1 Reading Group finish their last chapter on June 12, which is about a week away. I’m not one to decide, but how about we start late June/early July?

No, they’ll start the last chapter on June 12th.

Ah, my bad. That’s still not too far away though, so I think deciding on a date won’t be a bad idea.
