I haven’t been cooking lately, but I had to check out the cookbook that came out recently.
Seems like it’s got what you would want! New color Ryoko Kui illustrations, recipes that look like the ones in the series, and an unwavering commitment to the “you can sub chicken eggs if you don’t have harpy ones” type bit.
Started reading the sample, took me forever to work out why I couldn’t turn the page. This book reads left to right. That’s just freaky. 
How many chicken eggs are equivalent to one harpy egg, then?
Also, has Izutsumi always had one skin-coloured leg?
Oh yeah, this is a weirdly common supplementary book thing. Idr which other series I’ve seen it for, but I’ve noticed it several times irl
Most non-literary books are printed this way, in my experience. I think maybe because there’s a lot of foreign books in thowe categories and re-typesetting everything (diagrams etc) would be annoying. The text is also normally horizontal.
That’s a good point. I have 2 books about the seasons in 横長本 format and one has vertical text exclusively while the other has horizontal. If I had to guess though, I think it’s a traditional Japanese format
The cover to volume 7 is especially memorable to me since it was the first one I bought new physical, so I can say with some confidence, yes.
