Gameplay notes
  • You can get another Ether Doubler here!
  • Speaking of, Elly will be unavailable after the first chapter this week so unequip any rare items that you may want others to use.
  • This is a good area to grind experience and DBs if you want, since you can heal up gears, buy items, and switch party members
  • In the first area, push the bolder out of the way to reveal a pillar room. Read the pillar and wall messages (W/E/2xS on either side of door), then inspect the wall on the west side to cause a rock to drop. Do this first!

Then push the stone into the hole. Inspect back of the west pillar, use the new rock to jump onto second pillar. Jump straight up to knock third loose. Push them into the holes. You can leave the room to reset the “puzzle”.

Unique Missables
  • Ether Doubler!!
  • For the boss in the first dungeon this week, if they self destruct you won’t get the item (Trader Card). Trader Card makes enemies drop rare items more often when equipped. If you want it, once you get the warning, take out all the stops to end the flight quickly, as you are time/turn limited.
"FMVs”

Discussion Guidelines

Everybody should feel free to post and ask questions–it’s what makes book clubs fun! But please do not post until you are familiar with Spoiler Courtesy!

Spoiler Courtesy

Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.

  1. Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
  2. Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
  3. Avoid posting any information from later in the game than the current week’s reading. If it is necessary to doing so, it needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections.
Instructions for Spoiler Tags

Click the cog above the text box and use either the “Hide Details” or “Blur Spoiler” options. The text which says “This text will be hidden” should be replaced with what you are wishing to write. In the case of “Hide Details”, the section in the brackets that is labelled “Summary” can be replaced with whatever you like also (i.e, [details=”Chapter 1”]).

  • Interesting or terrible dungeon design?

Week 31

I thought this dungeon was super fun!
Well, I used your guide for the first part, so I don’t know if I would have hated it if I had had to think by myself, but for the rest I figured it out and it felt super rewarding. Also because I could just reload my saves fast, so it wasn’t too frustrating if I had to retry something.
Also don’t feel like being too much in combat anymore in this game, so I liked better having to solve puzzles than being in a huge labyrinth.

I also liked the corridor with the three doors opening that lead to the Anima Relic (just like last week).

Didn’t like that Hammer came back at us AGAIN, feels bad to be betrayed by an NPC that felt so helpful before. Can we not trust anyone? :frowning:

The romantic scene between Fei and Elly was cute, but also a bit weird to do it after everyone just told Fei “go and talk to her and tell her how you feel!”. Imagine coming back after a few hours and everyone just stares at how, “…so, how did it go, that took a while..?”

Also there is even a sprite for naked Elly, lol

Week 31

Yeah I like this dungeon, too. You get to focus on solving silly ancient puzzles without dealing with the usual high encounter rate. I say that even though I fell off the platform in the spiky ceiling room 4 times before I saved state to do it

Hammer is an interesting tragedy because even though it’s obvious he made terrible choices, I still kinda feel for him. The portrait change is also very creepy imo. I had to fight him twice because the first time, his self-destruct killed everybody

I can’t tell if Cain’s mask just fell off when he died or if Ramsus was supposed to have cut off his head and the devs couldn’t fully remove those pixels for some reason. Where’s his face!?

Ok this made me laugh, I didn’t even think of that. I like these characters together, I think they’ve always played pretty well off each other. I still think Elly should come with us though. For the aerods.

I didn’t manage to win against Hammer without him selvdestructing, but as I had Fei surviving with 1000 HP, I thought, oh well, good enough..

Haha yes please :joy:

Including this week, five weeks left!

That’s crazy! Yay!

wk31: fasterfasterfaster~

No seriously since when did RICO know his heritage? Like Hammer sure, as he says his info network.

The spinny space is silly. Also Krellian made Ramsus to counter Cain in addition to being his clone?
Dunno why SBOOG thinks Krellian gives one wit about them or their orders…

Bigger virus(?)! Goodbye (?) humanity I guess! Except the people we like! They’re fine. Jury’s still out on all of Aveh or Billy’s kids though. Everybody becomes a Wells! Except not exactly everyone? I don’t even know anymore.

…lets say I buy Elly taking killing Wells so hard while no one else appear to have severe qualms (side note, Billy literally was tricked by Stone/Stein into doing so since he was more of a kid than he is (16!), this is never addressed) Fei thinking he can decide for her is bleh. And then the pushback is more that he doesn’t realize she’s in love with him? BLEH. Not gonna harp further on the direction they took Elly, and Fei and Elly together from now on. It’s really just not something I jive with personally.

…Rico’s response if you talk to him after was hilarious though. As it’s Bart’s if you try to go into the wrong room. And at least they resolved the will they or won’t they stuff, I HATE when media has no idea what to do with, like, an actual relationship except to keep teasing it forever or to ruin it with cheating/OOCness/whatever.

Looots of religious terms here, only some of which I know.

Mahanon! It says Eldridge on the side! And the zoom into the captain’s chain (…where the bodies go?) says it IS the main ship! Where god is hmmm. Glad they’re putting the pieces together of what happened in the intro.
