How am I just now realizing that Billy’s mid-tier gun shoots out of his sleeves… He’s even got one on each side.

Classic Bond villain move by ベルレーヌ. Did he have to explain all that, really? Maybe if he spent less time talking he wouldn’t have gotten shot like that. I went to look at the dialogue in the script too, and it’s a wall of text compared everything else. I also think it’s funny that ストーン/スタイン shows up and immediately says that ベルレーヌ is a “無能でおしゃべりな人間” who shouldn’t be alive… only to launch into his own long explanation, oi

I feel like I got a decent understanding of what SPOOG was saying this time, except for this line:

過ぎたるはなお、及ばざるが如し。

Maybe I’m missing something obvious but I could not make heads or tails of it.

Love that the crew of the タムズ describes the flying ship as a タコつぼ. Pretty accurate tbh!

Are the books supposed to be found in the orphanage? I think I got one from the guy hiding in the rafters but that’s it…

• keep bothering the kid in the bathroom (rude!) for Book 2 Old Comic Book/ボロボロのマンガ. you get what you deserve
• Show the boy in the room next to the bathroom the Bell Amulet. Note that Rico must be in the part for this. There is some different/interesting dialog if you first talk to him without Rico though. Get Book 3/『教会』の教え.

Not sure how big the window to get these is, though. g/l!

After the dungeon I finally had enough money to buy the EP doubler thing, hopefully it means that I won’t have to think about the terrible mecha fighting from now on.

I though the same! This entire sequence is wild. I respect that the writers finally decided that it was time to lore-dump. It’s peak JRPG script, in all the best and worst ways.

I still struggle to keep track of all the factions with their weird names… I go mostly by vibes.

If I understand correctly it’s something like “doing too much is bad, doing too little is bad”.

Week 20

Huge plot swings and info dumps this week – some of this was foreshadowed pretty heavily, but poor ビリー didn’t have any idea. There was a pretty pointed question about what happens to people who come to 『教会』, but are not accepted as エトーン.

It’s noteworthy that 『教会』 wants to break off with ソラリス and strike out on their own. One more instance where there’s a bunch of factions in play… but yeah, they don’t raise a lot of sympathies. The catholic confessional really underlines a connection.

I got the connection via atonement, but it’s still good that they removed any doubt with the furigana. 罪を贖う者. But why is it before the word? That’s not typical…

Unlike with some others, this instance of 貴様 doesn’t feel the slightest bit ambiguous. ジェサイア redemption arc started.

Isn’t this our first proper look at カレルレン? SBOOG mentioned him in passing earlier, but I don’t think we saw him before.
