🏜🐪 サバイバル・ゲーム! 灼熱の砂漠を脱出せよ - Escape from the Scorching Desert [Currently Travelling]

decision

Oh no quick sand!! I feel like we’re panicking because I want a different option that involves getting out, like, is there anything in the backpack that could help before ditching it? Like helping us grasp a hold of something. But alas, not an option. Still, I think I might go for throwing the back pack away. And then what…

learning corner

I reckon you’ll come across #1, 2 and 6 again soon and remember them!

Nice tidbit, thanks!

ひどく should just be the adverbial form of ひどい when it’s modifying a verb

Absolutely, I was referring to the kanji form, that I don’t know if I’ve ever encountered. I think it’s mostly spelled in kana. JPDB says that the kanji form is relatively common however (top 4k).

What’s annoying about 醜い is that the root is obviously 見憎い.

I told you, you can just ask me. NANA, volume 6:

Frieren readers are in for a treat too

I guess that didn’t stand out because the furigana saved me having to decipher the kanji…

Oh, I see! I don’t know if I knew the kanji form offhand either

All these NANA screenshots are starting to get real persuasive…

It’s also a lot in Tongari but always with furigana so I guess your excuse stands

The first volume is super dense, but apart from that, I only have great things to say about NANA! It would make me very happy if you joined us! And a bit sad if you didn’t…

Nana is getting easy. Like there’s a lot of text and all, but less than a novel. And no fantasy vocab.

Fling it fling it yeet that pack :palm_down_hand::dashing_away::backpack:

I have stood in quicksand before but it didn’t quite come down to throwing a bag for salvation, but I’m assuming we’re sunk to like waist maybe otherwise throwing your belongings when you’re only ankle deep is a slight overreaction I feel

I think we throw the backpack out because if we leave it on we’ll be heavier and sink faster…?

Edit: Just explained this choice to my partner who thinks we should keep the backpack on

PANIC!!!

It feels like the classic “do you want to lose everything but survive”, or “keep your possessions but die” problem…

hmmmm

this seems dumb… knowing what I think I know about quicksand…but then again the book is trying to kill us… I could go coin toss either way…

you should at some point be able to semi float on your back in quicksand …which makes me think keep the backpack and use something as a rope or whatnot to get out of it…

while panic is an option and tossing it… i say keep it… i vote the soggiest (sandiest?) option

True if you are human density. But if you are human density with a bagful of rocks, you sink. Depends on what’s in the bag I guess.

to be clear

take the bag off ones back but don’t throw it far far away … which isn’t an option

I would keep the backpack on because I am not strong enough to throw it safely

Welcome to Stage G of :desert::camel: 灼熱の砂漠を脱出せよ - Escape from the Scorching Desert

Our quick dash away from the snake seems to have led into some unfortunate sand soup. We’re stuck in quicksand! The best course of action is definitely to save our precious backpack so it may survive even if we don’t. Stay strong backpack, you’ll make it out the desert :flexed_biceps:

:compass: See you at scene :seven::nine::white_exclamation_mark: and :six::eight:

Never-the-less, your vertical growth might be just what we need to get out of that hole.
