I wipe the sand out of my eyes. Where has everyone gone? I must have fallen asleep, because I was having a strange dream about a book under a piano. It was important for some reason to… find the book. Anyway, I’m thirsty and get up, better follow these footprints before all trace whisps away.

well this is fun…stupid watch… omg
I wonder if the book actually used the wrong clip art and mixed this watch up with another one elsewhere in the book… but that’s fine at least i got 2 pages read (finally getting back to reading) … will try to finish the next bit tomorrow and I’ll be all caught up again …

I thought of this, but we’re in the Sahara desert which is in the Northern hemisphere. So that shouldn’t change the watch thing from pointing to South.

I had also double checked this.
In the Northern Hemisphere:
• Point the hour hand at the sun
• South is halfway between the hour hand and 12 o’clock
I just gave in and for totally clarity asked Claude (AI):
“In the northern hemisphere, if I point the hour hand at the sun and it is 3:40, which number does south point towards?”
Answer: Halfway between approximately 3:40 and 12:00 would be around 1:50 - so south would point roughly toward the 2 on your watch face.

go outside and try it… look up just not directly at the sun
if in the northern hemi… the sun is actually on the southern side of the sky…
all you gotta do is look up and actually try it for real…it will make sense…
It’s just confusing because of the cardinal directions and we don’t necessarily think of the sun’s position relative to those directions spacially…
go outside look up… haven’t searched through the whole book for another watch but I’m convinced the book is using the wrong clip art…

When it’s clear again… Just pay attention to where the sun is in the sky physically… Rises in the east… Sets on the pirates sailing away to the west…go west young man…
But that whole time the sun is actually in the southern part of the sky not directly overhead…
Pretty sure that’s what’s getting everyone confused. Aside from the wrong clip art in the book…

Approach the snakey friend…not as fluffy as the jackals…but probably fine…
though seriously WTH using 逃げる with this… 
shouldn’t run from a snake…slowly back away SHM guess it does mean to avoid but … and it isn’t that big … baby rattle snakes are very dangerous… cannot control the poison dose as well…this is fine… friendshaped…
though if hungry … get stick and catch snake… find some oil… deep fried yumminess…
also love that the watch is wrong and we ended up going the wrong way…I need to flip through this book and see if there’s another watch clip art
