These are more like just “positive (test result)” and “negative (test result)”

There’s a difference between whether a test shows something and the reality of if what it’s testing for.

Great idea!

Here are some others words I’ve seen in some recent news articles.

And I’ve heard these in conversations.
検査 けんさ: inspection (usually used in regards to getting tested for corona?)
副反応 ふくはんのう:side effect (not sure what the difference between 副作用 and this is, but I’ve heard both used)

Well it’s no wonder why I couldn’t understand the news. I didn’t know any of these words until today.

Are the Japanese outlets not talking about the gamma and lambda variants? This virus could soon have more mutations then the x-men

Maybe add them to Anki or read lots of corona related news? (I might actually do that, come to speak of it) Then it should stick after a while (: it’s a great list! I

It’s honestly a lot of vocab that didn’t appear that often before the whole covid situation, so really understandable.

I still can’t remember most of these off the top of my head yet, even with the words often coming up in conversations around me :sob:

I’m pretty sure 接種 means “vaccination”, while 接種済み would mean “vaccinated.”

Halle, Famke, January, Gina Carrano, Anna Paquin, Olivia Munn… There are lots of great infection choices in the franchise.

Welp… at least ロックダウン is easy to remember.

Nice, so useful!

One thing I noticed–
緊急事態宣言 (きんきゅうじたいせんげん) Is “declaration of a state of emergency,” 宣言 being “declaration” or “announcement.”
So 緊急事態 (きんきゅうじたい) would be “state of emergency.”

I can proudly add one to the list:

モデルナアーム

Hurts more than I’d have imagined…

Just a couple I’ve found useful:

確定患者(かくていかんじゃ): confirmed patient (as in someone who tested positive, rather than a suspected case, I believe)
変異株(へんいかぶ): variant/mutant strain

Thanks! I will update this word

Thanks! Added.
I kind of regret studying these words because on TV all I hear is vaccine vaccine vaccine

Really? I’ve found that most segments related to the pandemic contain a lot of these.
