キッチン Home Thread (Intermediate Book Club)

Thanks for the suggestion, that approach seems somewhat flexible at least. I think I will give it a try with the next book I get.

My feelings exactly =._.=

Yep, it has a few built-in, but for some reason my Kindle app for Windows refuses to download them >.< I need to google around to figure out what the problem is.

However, the main reason I want to copy-paste is because most built-in dictionaries I’ve used have trouble with conjugated verbs, and many times can’t find expressions or idioms like jisho can. Also, from time to time I want to copy full sentences to see ichi.moe or jisho’s take on how the sentence should be parsed…

I just updated, and now it indeed finds the conjugated verbs for me as well! :tada:

What a relief! Thanks to @Myria and @Naphthalene for pointing it out

Any insights on the reading aloud session? I could try to do Sunday night if you move it to 8 pm JST (but no longer than an hour, need to get up early on Monday).
But don’t let your judgement get swayed by my interjection

Ha, as it turns out, I realised I have events to attend the next two Sunday evenings, so the earlier time will not be possible for me until at least the 3rd week. :expressionless: I would love to still read/discuss if anyone is available a bit later to do so.
I am happy to do either time after that, depending on who wants to join me.

It’s the same for me as it’s always been, I never really know when I work and when I don’t, but I have most Sundays off, so if it’s at a reasonable time (somewhere in the lands of the British Empire) and I’m free, I’ll always try to join

Ooh, you’re right - I didn’t even consciously notice, but we also have an archive for old threads now! I like that as a way to keep things organised and not lose old content. Thanks!

Week 3’s thread is here:

It’s so short!
Not gonna lie, it’s kind of nice after almost 5 months of Haruhi.

And another week has gone by…

Which also means that for some of us JLPT has gotten closer :eyes:

With only 4 weeks left for the main story, I think we should finally decide whether or not to also read the second story, Moonlight Shadow.

I deliberately did not add an “I don’t care” option, because if the majority selects that one, we’re none the wiser  Therefore, please make up your mind and choose one way or the other:

  • I want to read Moonlight Shadow with the book club
  • I do not want to read Monlight Shadow with the book club

If we decide to read Moonlight Shadow with the group, which speed would you prefer?

  • 3 weeks, with 16-17 pages/week, ending Jan 3rd
  • 4 weeks, with 11-14 pages/week, ending Jan 10th
  • I plan to skip Moonlight Shadow

Just to clarify my vote here :joy:
Because of life getting extremely busy i decide to read ahead of pretty much everything and already finished the book (including moonlight shadow), so I wasn’t sure what to vote…

I went for not wanting to read with the club since i already finished, but maybe I just should vote in the first place

I think it’s fine to vote in favor of choosing another book to read if that’s what you want. :man_shrugging:

It looks like the large majority is in favour of reading Moonlight Shadow with the book club in 3 weeks. Let’s do it, then!
