ぼっち・ざ・ろっく! (IMC) - Volume 4

And wrapped. Thanks for running it again. A week’s break should put me right.

Bocchi is a bit weird because I sort of feel like it isn’t really getting that much easier even as time goes on, but I don’t know how much of that is that 4komas are surprisingly hard to read and parse (especially humour focused ones)

Me reading my first Bocchi chapter in years: “How much left in this chapter? Oh, I only read two pages so far…”

I need to get used to reading these dense chapters again.

to be fair, they are dense enough that each anime episode is like two chapters or like, what, 15-20 pages right? even with slight animation padding, that is dense.

still not quite machikado tier but very very high

うらら迷路帖 is also a bit harder than Bocchi, but Bocchi is definitely one of the harder 4-koma I’ve read.

i read tsuredure children the other day and was like ‘what??? a 4koma that’s easy [ish]?!?!?!?!? MADNESS’

Big Boo's Haunt

Come on Nijika just hug the wall and go get the last red coin it’s not like the piano is going to come to life or anything

fruit sauce

Fruit sauce? That sounds like something incredibly delicious and refreshing and I wasn’t expecting it to be something you dip yakiniku in. I wanted it to be a mystery and have it blow my mind like ラムネ or something but I couldn’t take the suspense and I looked it up. A few yakiniku sauces I looked at had at least some form of minced fruit or juice in them so I guess that’s what they were referring to

Yeah, I was offered a yuzu dipping sauce when I had shabu-shabu a few years back (though I went with the sesame one instead - I’m not a huge fan of citrus with meat… or any fruit with meat, really… including tomatoes).

By the way, does anybody know where I can read the next few volumes for after the break? I’ve been reading on comic fuz so far and I’ve reached the ones I have to pay for now, and I’m not sure if a foreign credit card would work, still have yet to try it or look at other options

Amazon Japan (Kindle) and Bookwalker are both popular options.

Can someone give a summary of where the characters and the band are at this point in the story? Without that I’ll be completely lost when I join for volume 5.

I buy on Bookwalker, they often have deals and a coin system so you get a lot of discount then buy a lot again then get a lot of discount then buy a lot again, it’s probably a trap

Would be fun to try, to see if I understood correctly. I will think about giving it a try in the beginning of next week if no one has beaten me to it!

Summary

Kessoku band tried out for a music festival main stage. They managed to get over the line for the fan vote to even get to the audition live (top 30), but didn’t make top 2, which was needed to get to the music festival. But they got scouted by a minor record label that a music writer they were kind of on-off antagonists with works at, so they’re currently working towards a mini-album release. They got creative blocked so they went on a summer vacation for a bit which seems to have unlocked their creativity, at least for the moment.

Character-wise is a bit trickier but the main thing is everybody learned that Bocchi is guitarhero but it didn’t really change anything because Ryou doesnt really care and Kita had no idea who that was anyway. Bocchi decided not to use it to boost the Kessoku Band account as well.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I went with Bookwalker but I didn’t realize that there was a JP version of the site I needed to use so I accidentally bought the English versions of 5 and 6, and they’re really strict on no refunds which is unfortunate, I think the only way to get my money back would be to file a transaction dispute

But luckily for me, I’m a pirate! I got my hands on what I meant to buy, and what I paid for is already supporting the original release, so it worked out! If anybody is curious what they say in English for these next 2 volumes hmu. Now to figure out what to spend my points on, like a single volume of something that can probably only be in English, I’m open to suggestions if anybody has any!

:scream: I didn’t know that there was an English version of the site!

And the volume five thread is up!
