Game Systems / Tips

• Saving happens at the end of each day when you write in your diary.
• Remember that starting on day 2 you can pull out your bug net at any time (right trigger on PSP)!
• Registering the bugs (creating a 標本) can be unintuitive at first – First, this must be done in Boku’s room at the desk (it’s a good thing to do before bed!). Select the bug in your box, select 出す, pull it down and place it on the screen below. Then you use the needle, into the pink liquid, and finally into the bug. This removes it from the box, registers this specimen permanently, and gives you a little description.
• Try to interact with anything that looks interesting. There is a lot of flavor text and even many paths where Boku can hop to places that require pressing interact on them.
• Time passes when you transition between screens, so you don’t need to feel rushed within a location. When the day ends, Boku’s uncle will find you and take you home.

Boku no Spoilers (Please read)

It’s customary in these clubs to collapse or otherwise hide your in-depth explanations of what happened for the week. I would just like to also request that because this game features so much optional and non-linear content, that you use your best judgment for what might be worth hiding, and do your best to make it generally clear outside the tags what you’re discussing. For example, in my week 1 post I referenced locations (the hideout and the shed) where I think interesting things happened but I further spoiler tagged discussion of what happened within them in case anyone who hadn’t visited one yet wanted to save the surprise.

Day 16

They put up a swing! I love the personalities now that I’m getting a feel for all the characters. Shirabe wants to play with us but has to let us know she’s better at swinging lol, and the aunt has the most off the wall comment about feeling like a girl in the Alps. I’m starting to love hearing what the aunt has to say.

Busy day for the uncle – after chatting about the swing he just put up I gave him the dog hair and picked up my kite. Ran to the top of the hill, flew it as high as it would go, then ran back to the hideout. The kids were there but they’re just doing their normal bug sumo; I didn’t get anything new out of them. Tried playing but this time the king option was just my champ bug but even bigger so that didn’t go well I’ll have to find a new good one and come back for revenge one day.

Speaking of characters, talking to Moe about music and stars at night was nice; she’s got a romantic side. Had to go check on the cow with the noise it was making, but nothing happened. At least I got in some night swinging set to Moe’s music. Tried sneaking in her room while she’s not in it but it’s back to no entry. I even looked out the window cause I’m worried about that cow! But nothing.

This pretty butterfly has a funny description.

Day 17 (new area spoilers!!!)

Had a bad realization. You know I thought the kite looked kind of different from what I ordered, and I’m pretty sure I just flew the starter one

Learned about the arrival of a new character, and luckily she’s on that same general side as the kite hill. Another day delay, but oh well. I’m the early sacrifice player to help others who want it optimize better

So I went back and flew the other, then quickly discovered the setup camera equipment along with a dead chicken tied to the tree . Also managed to catch a cicada that was zooming back and forth across the screen so that was cool.

The tent area is cool, and it being here seems to give us access to a whole new area again! This solves the red tent thing (good call!).

I’m so curious about passing this area, the sign does just say you need to get here early to start your climb for safety, so maybe if I beeline here first thing one day? It’s the てっぺん山 and the subtitle of the PSP release literally includes てっぺん山の秘密 so we have to go there somehow!

This whole path is beautiful. There doesn’t seem to be anything going on with the cave? But it was cool to poke my head in. Just expected it to go further, but it seemed tiny, sadly. Despite exploring her camp (and setting off her camera a bunch, oops) I never actually found the camper herself…

Well unless anything comes up I’m heading that way again tomorrow to see if I’m allowed past that sign, so I can look again. Tomorrow is likely the day I can get the fishing lure, but I might just rush straight back to the new area…

I felt like I must be getting high bug completion by now, but wow, this game is full of them.

Hopefully I remember to order a new kite soon too.

Lol ぼく knows the word 溌剌? I distinctly remember it being a plot point in the 夜市 novel where university students talk about that word. That’s why I know it XD.

Day 18 (Family plot spoilers!)

Ok, I must admit to a little save scumming here, bad gamer instincts taking over . I pretty much told myself I have a lot I’d do around the house, but I’m going to rush straight to that mountain path and see if it’s not blocked, then just restart and play the day normally if it is blocked. Admittedly I got turned around and went to an extra screen or two cause the area past the hives confuses me, but it was a tiny time loss only. So it’s possible you need to go there with NO deviation but I doubt it’s that strict. So yeah, my test failed and I reset.

Anyway, some advancement might be happening in the Moe mail plot

Seems I can only get the other 中級 kite but I ordered it from the book. Part of why I wanted the reset was to give that to the uncle and probably get my lure from him… and he’s not here today

So I largely retraced my steps because the new person, Saori. Her dynamic with Boku is really good; they’re practically doing manzai together. When she plays her recording of their first few lines I actually thought the game might’ve bugged out on me at first . She also told me to come to her tent tomorrow for some interesting books!

That area’s full of cool bugs so I spent a little while getting some. Wondered if you can find Moe anywhere today but didn’t spot her. Aniki’s on the bridge but he’s still mourning the sight of the 羽化 we missed out on. Got taken by the uncle immediately after.

I noticed the aunt explained she made Moe’s favorite foods today. Poor Moe. Boku did his best to help but he’s just a kid. This shot of her flopped in the bed is so sad and funny.

I wonder if there’s a Moe diary entry? I got this one for meeting オオカミ woman. Wow Boku really likes how she looks. I didn’t expect that writing lol.

Day 19

First thing today I went up to Moe’s room and had a little chat with her, it was cute. Boku’s a good kid. I like all the little conversations he has with people about where he’s from vs the countryside here, like talking to Shirabe now about the 駄菓子屋 . Refusing to answer what candy is there and laughing is Shirabe behavior so I support Boku doing it back this time, haha. The aunt has another good song, man, I love these people now lol. It’s fun to talk to them. After that, got the lure from uncle, talked to him about the new lady I met, and ordered my kite. Lots checked off my to do list.

Met Yoshiko on the bridge and I we talked about Moe being depressed and she indirectly talked about how I guess she won as the 恋敵 she mentioned being earlier.

But more importantly, Boku has an appointment! For books! With an alleged 美人！The artstyle isn’t quite selling me on that but I’ll take their word He made a big cute grin when she said to visit again, and I figured out I can hop over the campfire. Good stuff.

Didn’t expect to get the chance to fish just yet after all this, but I have been wanting to get back to bug sumo to try out a new bigger bug. It’s a nice purple. Turns out this bug is terrible and it lost immediately to a tiny one And I had two of the type my old champ was and thought I was getting rid of the smaller one but I guess I accidentally got rid of the champ . Gave my new one a few easy matches but I gotta get more bugs in the future now for sure. In the end I indeed got stopped just before reaching the fishing spot.

The diary entries always surprise me, this time I expected looking inside the tent at the books to be my subject but instead it was the lure.

I guess my future goals are about getting bugs and fish (I’m coming for that one!), remembering the kite, etc. Nothing TOO big on my mind other than catching that one fish, but the family member plot stuff seems to be in full swing so I’ve been very interested in the conversations I get to have each day.

day 16 (31 min)

• Used the new swing that uncle installed
• Got my new kite from uncle
• Saw the 蛹 is about to 羽化, told aniki and we watched it together

• Did 10 rounds of sumo with my king, all hard or king and all 10 won
• Met the aunt by chance and she took another picture of me
  
  
• Went back to the beach in search of the whale ear bone, but found a strange thing instead
  
  
• Uncle caught me on my way back again
• Apparently the strange thing was the whale ear bone! Uncle told me how they come to be after dinner
• Moe is playing her instrument again and has pretty good mood, talkative about the stars
• The cow made strange noises, uncle told me it just showed up on their door at one point in time, and they don’t know who the owner is, so they kept it, and it’s called 野良
• Went to bed and saw a crazy FMV of a whale; that was scary
  
  

day 17 (24 min)

• Apparently a new 狼 girl is camping and using our bath, comes here every summer
• My 朝顔 flowers gave up and withered, aunt congratulated me on my effort
• Went to fly me new 3rd kite
  
  
• Found the tent, boku didn’t want to go inside and it seems nobody was there
  
  
• Explored the new area and caught a few new bugs
• Wanted to use the bees to port back, but uncle caught me before again
• Uncle says after dinner that he wants to go to the barber tomorrow. I hope he is there to order my 4th kite from him…
• Finished the day by catalogueing my bugs.

Huh I’m so confused why I missed this now. Unless I’m just wrong, as I recall I checked it the very next day, no change, then came back the next day and it was gone. Unless it’s a time of day check too…

Maybe it’s cause I was with Shirabe but considering I could not find the whale ear bone either I’m starting to feel like this game has it out for me, heh

• The postman came
• I selected my new kite from 2 options
  
  
• Shirabe has a bad premonition for the day
• As expected the uncle is sadly not in his shop today because of the barber
• Wanted to ask my friends for a shortcut to the mountain as teacher told me, but they are only interested in sumo at the moment
• Did king sumo and sadly lost, did one trade to try out the method discussed in a previous thread and did my first trade!
• Went to the red tent and met Saori for the first time, she seems aggressive in trying to hit me, invited me to her tent tomorrow
• Found a new area close to the waterfall that I missed last time and fished 3 big fish
• Found a strange mystery book that I don’t pick up
  
  
• Wanted to ask Saori about it, but uncle caught me before I could reach her
• Moe is down, bad letter apparently, aunt cooked her favorite food
  
  

day 19 (22 min)

• Moe is still down, not at breakfast
• Met uncle and talked about ookami neesan and finally ordered my new kite
• Yoshiko on the bridge asked about Moe, she’s also a little down even though she won
• I could look into saoris tent, what a messy person, but I couldn’t bring up the strange book with her
• Caught some more bugs around the area and used the bees to teleport back
• Got my pic from the sunflowers from aunt after dinner (forgot to look at it and take a picture )
• Moe is a bit better again and comes to dinner, she also wants to take it as a chance to start a diet…
• Finished the day by cataloguing my beautiful new found bugs.

I think it was out at the time, just kind of a particular angle only works I believe? I had to do it from the right IIRC and the first time I was there I looked at the campfire and thought it didn’t do anything.

Caught up!

Day 16

• I think I yanked hair out the dog, sorry dog
• We got a new swing! Swung on it a bit
• Gave the dog fur to uncle
• Found aunt near the sunflower field, she took another photo of me
• Caught some bugs, 1 new butterfly and beetle
• Registered bugs

Day 17

• They talked about tanabata and a tent at breakfast I think, said the tent would be in the woods by the pond
• I noticed that one of the butterflies I caught yesterday was one of the special ones from the book, and now it has that swirly flower maru on the page. No idea what I did to get it to appear
• found a camera in the woods
• Found the tent! How exciting! I tried to see inside but Boku just stared at the camera
• New area behind the tent! Found a cave but nothing in it
• New butterfly (one of the ones from the book?)
• there’s a mountain trail but it says begin your climb by 11am for safety reasons (can we do that?)
• I thought someone might appear by the tent later so I hung around but nobody came

Day 18

• Went to see uncle about my kite but he wasn’t there
• Met my first person outside of the family, went to the tent to see if there was anyone there today and there was a woman by the camera wanting to get a pic of the wolf
• caught a fish by the falls
• smacked the beehive by the tent (are these supposed to be used as quick travel or do they actually take a chunk of time out your day?)
• Did some beetle fighting, I think one of the kids called me the champion? Don’t know if that’s related to the fighting or just normal dialogue. Anyway won a king match, did some strong matches but lost against a big red stag my purple stag didn’t stand a chance
• Moe was flopped on her bed, she seems down

Day 19

• Moe was still flopped on her bed, but at least she changed clothes
• Got the new lure from uncle, guess it’s fishing time! He also said he’d get started on my next kite
• It was tons of little fish in the pond so I caught some then ran back and forth until the big one appeared, which turns out is a trout! Caught it and Boku started jumping with joy
• Found the ghost wolf again
• Caught some more bugs, nothing new, and registered them
• Moe was at the table today, and not flopped on her bed later, but when I talked to her she said something about trying a diet and Boku made a sad face

Day 16

The new kite was finished today, so I went to go and fly it and saw a UFO. I was able to fly the kite high enough so no worries there. Did a bit of looking for more beetles as well. 萌 was playing the flute again tonight and had a nice little dialogue.

Day 17

I went exploring around the new area and tent today. Couldn’t find the inhabitant, but I did look around all the new areas which took up the bulk of the day. The mountain path can only be taken before 11, but it feels like that’s going to be too far to make. (I did look up what the solution is: seems like it’s related to winning a lot at the beetle sumo)

Day 18

Met 沙織 and enjoyed the dialogue between her and ボク. Very funny. Also like that ボク is the ボケ in the duo.
萌 is sad, oh no…

Day 19

Went looking for more beetles today and encountered the ghost wolf again. ボク talked about it at dinner but no one really believed him…
