Bocchi’s cold is clearly contagious.
In the climax of the second chapter: For those who haven’t made the study of the rules of baseball their life’s passion, they briefly explain it in the chapter, but the rule in play here is 振り逃げ, which is called an uncaught third strike in the English rulebook. Short version is that when they’re on two outs and two strikes, if the catcher fluffs it on the third strike, the batter is permitted to run. As is anyone else on-base. I wound up translating a baseball manga a few years back, and as a result wound up learning much more about the intricacies of the rules than I’d ever expected I would. Main character is an anti-hero type who wins matches by rules-lawyering to an almost absurd degree.

I’m glad to see my understanding of it was correct. (I know nothing about sports, let alone baseball.) At the time I was reading, I didn’t have Internet access, but I had a feeling there’d be a Wikipedia page on it.

As the Wikipedia page says, two outs is not required.
Both chapters this week are great, but the second one is particularly memorable. I have a picture from my original read of the panel where Bocchi is facing the catcher instead of the pitcher and the small text where the catcher says やられる because it’s so funny. I’d say this led directly to the climax of the chapter since the catcher kept closing her eyes when Bocchi swung.

Aye, but the necessary prerequisites are different when it’s not a two-outs situation.

Why do I get the feeling that Yamada is gonna be the last member of the class who Bocchi makes friends with?

I really like the circular nature of chapter 54.

Oh, Bocchi. That was your one chance to use the 鬱 kanji, and you just say it in kana instead.
New character in the second chapter. I imagine it’s fairly apparent, but her name is 姫じゃない.
Oh, musical episode. I love how they’ve gone full musical by the bottom of page 55.
Nako coming in on page 54
Oh, and the omake page includes the full class roster. I can definitely spot the puns in several of those, but I might sit on them until they get properly introducted. I thought Miina’s seat was over by Aru, though…

I’m half tempted to stick known faces to their tables. Maybe next time.

My favourite joke from this week’s reading: Bocchi reaching for the “Toss” box only to reveal there’s a “Treaures” box on the other side of it.

Cute chapters. I love the あけましておめでとう game scene for some reason. There are several scenes from volume 5 that I have pictures of from my original read through and that’s one of them. Another, which is one of my favorite scenes in the whole series, is when Bocchi looks like she’s gonna kill someone with a baseball bat from a few chapters ago.

Pure gold!
Also I’m not sure that she has managed to put in いらない box anything at all.

Is it… ガンバル妖精’s mustache?!
Which somehow has disappeared on the next page

New character this week: 思いかける
Page 97, wow, that last panel abruptly turned heavy. This is supposed to be a comedy manga, who invited the onion ninjas?
Chapter 61, I feel like Sotoka just took out Aru’s ponytail and did nothing else. Though she turned Kako and Bocchi into completely different characters…

Chapter 61 was so cute. And it’s nice how Bocchi just reads the “magazine”, unlike the others.
