I would just add an “also” to your translation
Are we able to pin an agreed translation for each sentence as the pages are finished so we can have a single reference point to check our own understanding?

Yeah I just realised this also and now I’m thinking I might have to do 2 pages a day to keep up 
Is there any way we can change the time zone of this group so that it’s more of a middle ground for everyone? As it is, it’s evening of the 1st here and half the group is already two pages ahead… Or do you think it will be taken care of by the “sliding” effect? In any case, it will be hard for me (and I can’t imagine for US people) to keep up with the actual dates we’re supposed to read pages…

Ok I am glad I found the translation I needed because I didn’t understood the following sentence well:
おすしは、こどもたちから お年寄りまで、たくさんの 人に人気の、日本の 食べ物です。
Translation would be something like “from children to elder people, sushi is a very popular Japanese food.”
I can’t understand where the popular part in this phrase is. I tried to figure out, but when I translated 人に it is as far as I can tell “to people” and when I looked up 人気の I only could find a translation that said “human”. And regarding to the list たくさんの said it means “many”? Might this be the popular part? I am sorry if it’s obvious
Also I read that の is the question marker in this case and said, it’s used after many words in this sentence. Why is it used here? I am sorry ;;

I agree with “ of the world” in this context. Plus, it’s one of my vocabs this level, and I recognized it instantly lol.

The の it’s not a question marker here. It’s to connect two nouns (Japan and food, and popular [it’s a noun in japanese] and food)

Like you said, there is a 4 day buffer to discuss each page. Once I realized it was on Japanese time, it wasn’t hard to know how to handle it. For instance, I’m on US Eastern time, so the “day” for the reading club changes at 11am. I will read the page the night before and take notes, because I work the next morning. By the time I get to lunch or go home, there is plenty of discussion.
No big deal.

I guess so, Google search gave tonnes of results for “人気な日本の食べ物”. E.g.:
外国人に人気な日本の食べ物ランキング
「ようかん」は欧米では最も不人気な日本の食べ物の1つだそうです。
And the comma doesn’t seem to be necessary, the authors of the book probably added it “just in case”.

Yes the comma was actually pretty confusing and I just ignored it. 
Yeah, no big deal except I’m already 2 pages behind with no time to catch up, and also this thread will become quite confusing if people are discussing 4 different pages on each given day (only judging by the amount of activity on this first day. It would not necessarily be as much of an issue in another book club where there is less posts per sentence…). Anyway, this was just a suggestion… I guess we’ll see how it pans out over the next month 
On than note, it might be a good idea to create a new thread every twenty pages or so (like chapter threads in other bookclubs), otherwise by March this thread might have become a monster and impossible to find one’s way in if one happens to miss a few days… People are already struggling to sort through all the answers… Again, just a suggestion!

I haven’t gotten to start sadly myself yet, as it just arrived today Wohoooo!!! But I guess, you don’t have to read every single comment, but rather only search for those questions, where you don’t understand something. At least that how I’ll try to approach it. However I don’t know yet how difficult or easy the text will be to understand
