しょうじょ vs. おとめ

When pronouncing 少女, you can either say しょうじょ or おとめ. Does anyone know if one or the other is more commonly used in spoken language? Or does it, like so many things Japanese, depend on the context of the conversation? Thanks!

少女 is usually read しょうじょ.
おとめ is more commonly written as 乙女. There are, of course, exceptions, but in that case there should be furigana, like this: 少女おとめ
