“Is it spelled with a ‘Ch’ or a ‘K’?” <= Not often, but I’ve gotten this a few times in my life.
Also: “Is Chris short for Christopher or Christian?”
I know, not quite the same thing as kanji!

Ha, yes, I often introduce myself as “Emilie with an ie instead of a y” in situations where they will have to write my name (like teaching). So there is sort of an analogue.
But it definitely took me a moment to figure out that that was what was happening while reading. First time I’ve seen it in Japanese, so enjoyed seeing that.
