えほんのチャレンジ:0歳 "Picture Book Challenge: Age 0"

Here’s what I see when I click that link:
I guess membership here is different than WK? Because I pay for the site…

That button shows the edit history.

From when we used to list individual members of the book club, I remember basic trust users being unable to edit the wiki, so that’s probably the issue. I’m sure somebody here can edit it for you :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s not about paying for the site; the forums have a ‘trust level’ system which basically means your abilities are slightly restricted until you’ve interacted a certain amount. It’s to make it harder for people to sign up and instantly start spamming them or trashing everything. It doesn’t take long to become a ‘member’ though :+1:

Do you see this button?

(haha, totally wrong capture there for a sec)

And if you can’t edit it yet, that has to do with Discourse “levels.” As you participate more with the forums, you go from Basic to Member and such. That unlocks more likes, and also things like wiki post edits. If you can’t edit it yet; you’ll be able to in time. ^^ It’s not something WK can control, I’m afraid. The forum they use is a Discourse forum.

Edit: yes, what @Radish8 said. XD

Haha, I was like… I do not think that is the image they meant to link :eyes: :joy: just waiting for the ninja edit…

I just stared at it for a second in total confusion. :joy: I didn’t realize there were two things titled capture on the desktop, so I grabbed the first one.

By which I of course mean: you saw nothing!

I love this!

I added my name to the list, and I will get reading soon!

I would like to join too  I have a question beforehand to the people who already started, do you feel like you are learning many words reading the books? Or sentence structure?

Not a lot of diverse sentence structures to be found in lvl 0  But lot’s of onomatopoeia, and words, yes. I assume the grammar (and words) will get more diverse and complex in increasing levels.

I feel it’s good exposure though.

I learned giseigo (Japanese onomatopeia). Also there are some words that I usually don’t recognise when written in kana, but I know them when written in kanji. I think it’s useful to also see them in kana from time to time, so we’re not overly dependent on kanji to give meaning to a word.

Thank you for your response! I’m glad there’s a lot of onomatopoeia!

@plantron_RickMatsuri you’re right, I usually have no idea what some words mean when I see them in kana, so this sounds like some very useful practice! Thank you!

Alright I’m in. Took me a while to figure out the website!

I don’t think it works on phones or tablets as apparently you need adobe flash to run it, but if anyone knows any other way to make it work I’ll be glad to know.

If you want to read on your phone (at least on Android) you need to download their app. They’ll link you to it if you want to read. (EDIT: by which I mean, when you click on ‘read in full’) There’s 2 buttons, one will say ‘(somethingsomething) インストール’ and forward you to the app store.

In the process of doing that, somehow the first えほん ended up being marked as read though, so you might want to be a bit more careful than me :joy:

That’s too bad that it marked it as read! But thanks for the info about reading on mobile.

If anyone wants to put together a little guide for reading on mobile, that’d be appreciated. I could link to it from the first post so others can have it :D.

It’s probably my own fault - maybe I backed out of the loaded book?

Yeah I’ve done that before! On the web version at least, you have fifteen minutes from when you first open it to open it again if you accidentally close out. Otherwise you’re not allowed xD.

It worked! Thanks so much!

I still can’t make it work to get on the list, but I’m still going to read the books as far as I can.

Hmmm it looks like you have the proper badge, so I’m not quite sure what the issue is.

What happens when you click on the “Edit” button for this post?
