Interesting chapter, not sure about the detective’s fate at the end, but he was also quite interested once he heard about 七ツ谷… I wonder if she has some kind of background that sparks the attention of all these characters? And if the detective does manage to reach the lodge, I wonder if he would get into a game of “who’s the real detective?” With our local murderer? Another part which caught my attention was the bringing of food to 七ツ谷, it also felt suspicious to me… does she know anything? Is the being threatened? I wonder… ---

Very convenient indeed, although since the truck seems to be fine, there’s opportunity for reinforcements to cross somewhere else on the river later. No doubt 田所 will go on ahead instead of waiting 😁 > > Yeah the teacher’s behavior is odd— Like you I suspect she’s trying to work out some deal with the murderer to save her life and of course needs to keep everyone else out of it. Finally making progress on catching up thanks to lots of free time in the holiday season. I find the chapter quite entertaining, especially the part where the lady on the phone protested for 30 mins for being called a “scam” 😄 ---

A bit late to the party, but I’m itching to leave my speculation here just for the record: My guess is that during the conversation with 先生 in front of her door, it was our culprit all along who changed his voice to make everybody think that 先生 is talking to them 🤣 This way he could buy time to not let people interact with 先生 (no matter in which condition she is). ---

This crossed my mind when I first read this chapter, too. But I discarded the theory, because I thought it would be too obvious that a man is immitating a woman’s voice, especially for 戸沢, who’s very familiar with her real voice. But given how wacky this book becomes in the later chapters, I think the theory is back on the table. ---

My bets are on 七ッ谷先生 making some kind of deal with 山名. Not sure what she can offer him, but I want her to still be alive!!
