I agree. The kana initially made Japanese seem more accessible to me but now when I see a wall of hiragana I’m like noooo.

You can use either one, but for the most part you will see digits followed by 万 for large round numbers, and anything less will just be written like we do in English. Unless its a more traditional restaurant, then you might see kanji.
