Had more time this evening than I was expecting to read more. Will try to wake up early enough tomorrow for some 空の軌跡. 190m = reached 3 hours, ya~y g’night.
Read the first 2/3 of 名探偵コナン V15 in 3h 20m, then paused to go for a very cold walk to clear my head a bit. Now curling up under a blanket with a nice hot green tea latte to finish the volume. 
I’ve managed 114 pages so far, when in the fall I’d only gotten through 90 pages in the same amount of time, though. So, so I’m far achieving my goal of a faster reading speed - yay! 
Finished narcissu! Your mileage on this one is gonna vary a lot, but it hit right for me. Really not a lot in the way of visuals in this visual novel, but the music was very nice. Minimal voice acting for one character who is pretty reluctant to talk most of the time, so it was mostly just reading with the occasional background change. For a free vn from 2005, I thought it was still an excellent read though. There is a sequel to it, but honestly I think I’m fine just leaving this story at that for now.

According to JPDB, this is approximately the same average and peak difficulty as flowers, which gives me a bit more confidence in trying that out again soon. I probably won’t be dedicating 8 hour reading days to it, but being able to get through scenes/chapters in one short sitting and without needing to pause in the middle of the action opens up a lot more VNs to me
Update 2！
Managed to finish off volume one of Phantom Busters. Some of the language got quite tricky in the final chapter and there were a lot of look ups but I’m confident that I followed the story well. Really enjoying so far considering I picked it up on a whim!
I’m off to bed now but I’m hoping to get another 2/3 hours in tomorrow, still aiming to get one more manga finished but it’ll be tight I think.

I started already at 17:00.
First I played Trail of Cold Steel 2 for 2 hours. It was mostly text let’s count it as one hour reading although it probably was more than one hour.

but honestly 8 hours is still kinda nuts for how I was feeling earlier tonight. I was pretty much ready to throw in the towel around 3-4 hours, but used this goal as a way to rally and get significantly more reading done than I really wanted to

Today by itself surpasses my previous record text reading week (51500), not just my record text day I said that I’d been on a text kick and wanted to see how far I could push that, and today ended up being pretty much pushing myself to the limit! Zero manga, several different varieties of text (children’s story, old short story, light novel, visual novel, fan fic), and a whole lot of it at that.
One of my big picture goals has been to get my reading stamina and speed up to a point where I can comfortably finish a light novel in ~2 weeks, and it seems like I’m definitely approaching that territory with my reading speed. Just gotta keep it up, only gets easier as you do more

Well, I didn’t quite reach my time/pages goals because I vastly underestimated the amount of time I needed to devote to other things this weekend. A bit of a bummer because I imagined a cozy all-day reading session 
But the holidays complicate things and I’m glad I was able to at least complete the primary goal of fulfilling my 2024 bingo card

While I didn’t have any hard goals and hadn’t really planned on anything but somehow got swept up into it, did learn a lot about how slow my reading speed is.
Even though in my native English, it’s never been fast
Feel like I can plan my reading time/blocks a lot better going forward looking at how long a chapter is or char count and whatnot, something I had a rough feel for but nothing with stats.
2025 will hopefully be the year of shosetu and improve overall reading speed.
I made it through page 292 of 335 of 本好きの下剋上 volume 26 by the end of my 24-hour period. I estimate that I read for around 10 hours, with 5 hours on Friday and 5 on Saturday. I finished the book by Saturday evening. It was fun to binge read a light novel for the first time in a while!
Let today start.
For a quick math, let \frac{Aozora}{350} and \frac{manga}{5} for today. Goal 
I have some fear of counting Aozora advent, as I don’t read that well on the lower half. But re-reading from the top today feels better. The problem isn’t really historical spelling or Kanji, but rather trying to read to hard on the smartphone… (I read 妊娠カレンダー on Bookwalker app for tablet.)
That I can’t read too long a session, there are two types: (1) tiredness / sleepy (2) information overload, I need to digest. If it’s (1), I indeed want to improve tolerance, but not sure if I want to force through (2). Nonetheless, (2) may speed up with switch-rest A-B-A-B-…

The last goal went down the drain because of my poor planning. I thought of buying はなものがたり 2 this morning, but my bookwalker wasn’t working, and by the time I purchased the book and ran it through mokuro, it was already close to 9 am, so I got in around 6 pages before finishing my readathon.
I also didn’t think of the fact that はなものがたり does not have furigana, and each chapter is 30+ pages. What was I thinking when I said, “finish 2 chapters” lol 
But I did read more of umineko as planned! Kinda excited to beat my goals next time because I saw a lot of people doing that hehe.

And I’ve started! 45min so far. Will read 容疑者Xの献身 until I go to bed tonight in around 12 hours (though I don’t expect to read anywhere near 12 hours, there will be moments with the family too!)
Okay, my 24 hours are up and I have to admit I didn’t read at all those 4 hours this morning, because there is lots of private stuff happening that drags me down and the reading was not going well, which was to be expected. Mixture of both let to a pretty bad mood, and so I gave up.
I had to give up after 1 volume of 彼に依頼してはいけません. It is definitely way above my level and even though I gave up looking up every word during 舞台に咲け already, it was hard to follow the story. I can do short chapters and don’t mind looking up everything, but when it was such a mass in front of me, it felt overwhelming. Well… demotivating, but hopefully I can tackle it next time with a better personal setting and not as much drama around me. And more vocabulary knowledge. Trying to turn this into motivation to study harder and not let me feel absolutely defeated 
Also suits me that the only series that interest me are higher levelled Suppose I can’t stop before I am at least at N2.
Happy though to see that so many reached their goals already!

So adding that up again, because I messed up last night (whoops 
), I think I’ve got 14 sources, 231 pages, 5.4k characters, 337 minutes (or 5hrs 37 in normal time). My sister was here, so I didn’t beat the larger time goal, but I did beat my page and character count goals in the less time. Didn’t quite double the page goal but I reckon I would have if I’d had the time.
I finished four things (marked with ) though they were all in progress when I started. I also started a couple easier manga at the end because too tired for more 軌跡 but still had time left. I also ended up not reading any novels this time, but I surprised myself with how quickly I read some of the more difficult manga when not looking up every word I’m unsure on, and how much I understood without as many lookups. So, I think if I keep this up, I could have a not negligible number of novel pages read in Spring.
Some of it admittedly wasn’t exactly the most focused reading I’ve ever done, but I have reached the end of my 24 hours and seem to have ended up with 8 hours and 51 minutes of reading in total. I wasn’t counting characters myself, but I tried following the same choices the book club for Fatal Twelve did, so according to the character counts listed there I read about 121.4k characters during that time.
