There’s still plenty of time to join! Some people like me started early, but the challenge runs through the whole weekend and through Monday as well, so you’ve got options for whenever works best for you.

This is my first time joining in a readathon, hugely inspired by the amount of time and pages that are being read here so far 
I’m not the quickest but I’m hoping to complete two manga over the challenge.

Session 2: Book Club catch-up continues 
I read two chapters of Frieren, no idea how you binge this prath?! 
There were some cute scenes, I like the "6 months go by scenes in this manga, and some of the background shenanigans that go on. Luckily people more observant than me comment on the club thread and that helps! I still have the last 2 chapters to catch up with (my own) club. But maybe the next two chapters will be easier for it, so feeling good. I didn’t time myself, maybe an hour?
Total so far: 1:30 hours, 60 pages

Progress:
I started 2024-12-21T09:00:00Z and by the time it’s 2024-12-21T16:00:00Z I’ve finished 奇譚ルーム. According to Natively, that’s 248 pages. Not sure what’s the character count 
I took a short break for meals and others, so I think overall I spent about 5.5 hours today.

Finished a chapter, so I’m gonna make a pitstop here. Unfortunately I have to guess for the reading time, because I didn’t pay attention to when I started…

I also already read for more than 5 hours yesterday, but it was a videogame so I can’t really count pages of characters. However, the experience went way more smoothly yesterday because there was just an excessive amount of furigana available.

Read 8-10k characters from うみねこ
Just finished reading around 10,186 characters. My total reading time so far is 4 hours and 50 minutes. As expected, my brain is officially
I actually didn’t want to stop reading umineko because the story was really picking up, and there were so many things I was curious about. But after a while I could barely make sense of most sentences, so I figured it was better to stop before completely burning myself out.
It’s already around 10 pm here, so I’m going to call it a night and give my poor eyes some rest. I have until 9 am tomorrow, so I’m hoping to squeeze in some more umineko before I check off my final goal!
It’s so nice and motivating to see all the updates I love this aaaaaah

Yay - the Readathon is finally here!

Volume 15 of 名探偵コナン
Volumes 4 and 5 of Major
Volume 1 of 名探偵コナン 警察学校編 Wild Police Story
Though if I get tired of コナン I may save Wild Police Story for later and pull out Volume 2 of カードキャプターさくら to get a head start on the ABBC Offshoot book club instead.
Primary goal is to read a bit faster than I did in the fall - it took over 9h to get through 270 pages in that Readathon. I’ve set aside the whole day for this, so getting to the 9h mark again is likely, but I’d love to get through way more pages!

Had some snacks, then read chapter 3 of narcissu, reading speed is picking up a bit, thinking I will continue on with this after I make some more coffee. So close to my 35k goal!!

woke up a bit later today than I wanted, leaving me only about 90 min of time left in the 24 hour period, so used it to read ch3 of kyoko (vol 6). [60 min / 36 pages]

Time for an hour+ Wanikani reviews (173 review items), Anki reviews and kanji study as I want to keep that streak.
And depending on how I feel might push for the late night evening reads.

Session 3
I read another Chapter of Frieren 3 (Ch 26) (20 min, 20 pages). Haha there was some juvenile humour in there that I normally am not amused by but since it’s out of the ordinary for this manga and even Frieren piled on it was actually kinda funny.
And 3 episodes of Koibito on Satori.
1000 characters, 10 minutes
And a quick peak at 2 pages of the Survival club to remind myself of what happened to move the club forward. I hope we win soon we’re running out of alphabet letters 
Edit: and the week 2 reading for Doraemon- 6 pages
Total: 2 hours, 88 pages and 1000 characters ( do I get that right we count all the time but either pages or characters? )

Did it take me 6 hours to read all 3 volumes of 舞台に咲け? Yes… yes, it did. 500 pages, so actually pretty weak compared to anyone else. It is definitely a bit above my level, as I usually do not take that long, but I wanted to read it and it was worth it. The story was luckily so sweet, it kept me going, despite me struggling left and right with all those technical terms and vocabulary I am not familiar with yet. However, I will definitely come back to it once I have gained more knowledge and I am sure next time it won’t take me as long.
A tiny bit worried as 彼に依頼してはいけません is even a bit harder than 舞台に咲け and I was planning to read all 8 volumes… but we’ll see. I still have some time left and maybe I start with volume 1 tonight before going to bed. I doubt detective stories are easier than the theatre vocabulary, but a girl can dream.
Overall the experience is outstanding. It has been a long time since I have been lying in bed, holding a printed manga and read it like this, as I usually just consume single chapters on pixiv on my PC and therefore never need to focus and read for so long, but also kinda forgot how intense it is to just absorb the whole story at once and not the chapters individually. Much better experience and I should do it more often.

I had a sleepy start this morning and only added a small chunk of extra pages. I started volume 4 of 光が死んだ夏 which always slows me down as I parse the Kansai-ben I have an appointment that I need to go to in about 45 minutes, so I’ll try to get another reading block in before my readathon time is up. I wish I hadn’t slept in so long, I want more reading time!

Somehow I managed to read this chapter much quicker than the other? Or maybe I really overestimated the time for that one.

Ha understandable. I set my alarm for 00:00 at first but choose not as I might end up with a wack sleeping schedule. Yesterday I tried sleeping early but I just could not do it.

I am enjoying this book more than I thought I would. Even if it’s slow going. It’s not my first shosetu, but it’s the first I’m reading alone (does ttsu/yomitan count as alone?). It’s pretty good if you are interested in this type of story. Some of it is quite sad but other parts are hilarious.
Did play 20 min of FF1 but didn’t really count it, nothing was new and was so sleepy.
But @taiyousea said my count was accurate sooooo - I could pad the # of Char by 5 million and add 20 min (makes it look so awesome) 
Still need to finish Frieren Vol 3 and finish the kyoko series. Devoted more time to manga than shosetu this time around as I want 2025 to be the year of shosetu reading. Didn’t want to leave a lot of manga unfinished. Though best laid plans…

I began reading around 21:25 which means that my challenge will end on Sunday at 21:25.
Went for フリーレン first and finished chapter 3. 111 pages covered in 1 hour and 20 minutes so far.
I didn’t sleep well last night and I’m too tired right now which is why I kept this update short. 
I’ll try writing a bit more in the next update(s) tomorrow.
