Session 1: I’m catching up with my book club reads and started with Shirokuma Cafe Vol 2. Ch 46-49.

I’m not sure if I’ll still go for reading a whole something in a day, I’m feeling pretty motivated to make a dent in my club reads today!

I’m pleasantly surprised with myself ahah. My first binge read was a success, and I’m satisfied with my pace so far. I finished 176 pages in 2 hours and 37 minutes. The last chapter was significantly more difficult, and I spent a long time breaking down big dialogues. I can’t wait to finish the 3rd volume by Jan 
I’m feeling motivated to keep reading and now moving on to my most anticipated manga, とんがり帽子のアトリエ 1!!!
I do feel slower now, and I’m sure it’ll take me longer to make progress with this one, but eep I’m so excited!
(I also have a huge pile of reviews on wk and bunpro, so I’m planning to take a big break after アトリエ, get some rest, finish my reviews, and then start umineko at night)

nice one! I spend so much time on every chapter breaking down dialogues, I have never managed a binge reading with Frieren. I’m so excited that you’ll be catching up to the club

I’ve already finished reading 11 volumes in eng, so I think I’ll definitely be reading Volume 2. (My logic is that it’ll be a little easier to understand everything since I more or less know what’s going to happen.) You should join me!!! (It’s a threat - no I’m kidding, but it’d be super nice to have company

Oh, you should try this! I feel like it’s easier to understand stuff when I’m binge-reading Frieren compared to reading one chapter a week. Maybe it’s because there’s not much happening, and it’s all very slice-of-life-y?
Set up the text hooker to play narcissu and played through the prologue and first chapter, but I was kinda zoning in and out so I cut a bit off my time. Enjoying this so far but I need some real food and a lil break.
A little annoying to read with textractor, since it skips lines sometimes and also just has a ton of junk, but the language has been on the easier side except for a few medical words

I’ve had quite a few look-ups for this one. It’s harder than Frieren but not so hard that it melts my brain
I’m not ready to move on from this manga just yet! I might spend another hour reading through chapters 3 and 4
I’m sure the brain melting will start when I move on to umineko though 
Phew, what can I say. It took me exactly 2 hours to read volume 1 of 舞台に咲け, which is way longer than I thought. I was rather demotivated half-way through, because there is so much I don’t understand. I am dancing between N4 and N3 so I knew it wouldn’t be a breeze, but I didn’t expect it to take that long.
There are lots of technical terms about acting and tbh I would probably understand as little in English, yet it left me really demotivated. Until the acting chapters were over and they talked normally and then it was so much better. I definitely notice a big jump in my grammar understanding, just all those technical terms keep throwing me off.
And best moment so far was that just yesterday I ran into 得る at BunPro and thought I had never come deliberately across that construction, and with N2 it’s way above my level. Of course I ran into it right now and was so thrilled that I understood it. Gave me so much adrenaline and I pushed through the tough chapters. Really motivated to finish the series today!
Some couple of hours has passed and after a proper rest I am feeling better about reading all day.

The story is wonderful and has pulled me in.

Started off with finishing a couple kids books and the さよ恋 omake, then just running through my natively list one chapter at a time.
It hasn’t quite been two hours yet and I’ve already beaten my page count from the autumn challenge. So that’s great. I’m not quite sure what to do with myself now XD
Time to double it!!!
I ate some real food and then got kinda distracted by the ayafubumi 忘年会 stream for a bit… whoops
Finished narcissu chapter 2. Think it’s time for a lil nap and then we’ll see how much I can get done in the second half. it is dawning on me that I actually kinda want to finish this VN before I have to leave for christmas with the family, so I might just really focus on that. About 1/3rd of the way done in 2 hours, so that would be another 4ish hours of reading, which is not unreasonable by my previous challenge standards

Following on from the above
I’ve finally finished コンビニ人間！
That brings my total for today up to 288 pages of manga and 72 pages of my novels (but kindle shenanigans so I think it’s actually more like 85 in 文庫本 form)!! And it only took 6 hours 46 minutes and 27 seconds!
I’m now pretty exhausted after all the reading today. I haven’t done much srs or anything else approaching human behaviour, but this has been a really good experience. About 2 volumes of manga and 70+ pages of novels isn’t bad going! I have a long train ride tomorrow but unfortunately it’s too late to count towards the challenge. I’ll finalise and double check everything tomorrow morning once I wake up. Have fun reading everyone!

I read for one hour less than during the fall and read one fewer book, but only had a four page difference, interestingly. I’ve been feeling pretty tired lately, so I was a bit worried it would impact my reading, but I think I lucked out in picking relatively easier books to read with no stinkers. It’s been lots of fun reading everyone’s updates, and I can’t wait to see you all in the spring!
@taiyousea I hope it’s all right I edited in the total from fall’s challenge as a new Goal line in the results table. I thought it might be fun to see the numbers we’re comparing against in real time, but maybe not? Feel free to remove!
