I’ve just read the first ln volume so not very far. If I recall correctly I read it back when it first came out so I was thinking I’ll maybe skim through it again to refresh my memory sometime soon and then continue with the rest of the series

Prath’s Winter Readathon
I was too late when I came across the thread last time, but I’m sooo excited to join this one!
I have a mini b’day gathering on the 20th, and joining the readathon on Dec 21st feels like the perfect afterparty - minus the part where my brain is completely fried by the end of it (but this is exactly the kind of pain I like, so I’m not complaining)
What I Will be Reading 
- 葬送のフリーレン 2 (my perfect chance to catch up with the book club)
- とんがり帽子のアトリエ 1
If I finish the 2nd volume of フリーレン, make significant progress in アトリエ, and still have my brain intact, I will continue with:
Goals 
Finish the entire second volume of 葬送のフリーレン
Make significant progress in とんがり帽子のアトリエ (15% → 50%)
Read 8-10k characters from うみねこ
Start はなものがたり 2 and finish 2 chapters
Am I overestimating myself? Definitely. I’m not sure if I’ll get past the first two goals, but I really want to try and make it. Good luck everyone, and have fun reading!!

I’ve been juggling some things recently so not hard committing to joining yet, but I hope I can. If so, last time I picked up a new book, read for 8 hours and got to about 65k characters in it, so I’d like to beat that character count. Maybe I’ll pick up a novel for the purpose again if I get the chance to join? I again don’t think I really want to use my current VNs for this.
I’ll aim to post again with more concrete plans if it’s looking good closer to time.

haha, and to make sure I achieve it, and read something winter themed, and don’t get drawn into yet another series, I’ll read this:
and then if I still have time, I’ll knock out my final Bingo square “read something free” with another Tadoku reader. I would feel bad reading these easy short stories to fill out my last 2 bingo squares… but considering at the beginning of the year I was really pleased to have finished a level 14 manga, then I decided short stories of level 14+ are game from December if needed to fill out my card

Yay - I’ve been looking forward to this! The 21st will be the first day of my winter holiday time off work, and I just took advantage of Bookwalker’s current ‘Coin Up’ sale to buy a bunch of new manga volumes and get more effectively free. I’m not sure what I’ll be reading over the next 2 weeks, so I’ll put together an actual goals post once we’re closer to the day. Definitely excited to do this again!

I’m so excited for you to read this one, it quickly became one of my all-time favorite series and I’m on the edge of my seat for the anime to come out
I had to double-take at this because I know you’ve been working on a L30+ book recently, your improvement this year has been nothing less than incredible!! 
I’ve never really paid attention to the coin aspect on bw but “get more free” suddenly makes me realize that I should

Yeah, it’s very handy! Right now (until 12/17, I believe?) they have 50% coin return on a ton of things, if you make a purchase of 1500y or more. So I was able to buy 7 volumes for 25 US$, and then use the resulting coins (plus a few extra I had from previous purchases) to get 5 more!

aw, thanks! keeping in mind, my pace for the 30+ book is just a page or two a day so I set it aside halfway through the first story to give myself a breather on easier stuff since I’m a bit overwhelmed with lifeTM recently. But that said, it was paperback and I am super pleased with being able to read something like that now! I really wish previous me knew that reading enables quick improvement. Then I wouldn’t have spent 6 years ambling toward N5/4
soo useful! There are 50% coinbacks for purchases of 1500 Yen reliably every 2-3 months. So, for example if there is a series I know I’ll read all of like Frieren, I just order a few at a time, get 50% coin back. Wait a couple months, buy the next 3 with half coins, half cash, get 50% coin back. I guess the only downside is, I am now firmly in a “pay bookwalker 750 yen every 2-3 months” cycle.

I will join! I will go from Saturday to Sunday, perfect timing actually as I will have lots of spare time and I will be at home all alone, so nothing between me, a cup of tea, some music and too many books.
I have been thinking that I should re-read 舞台に咲け for so long now that my Japanese has improved, so this is the kick in the butt I needed. As it only has 3 volumes, I might sit down and read 彼に依頼してはいけません as well and catch some wild vocabulary. I have always had to stop half-way and then lost track of it. But the books waited patiently on the shelf, so this shall be the day when I finally read all volumes in one go!
Edit: of course I am busy now on Saturday, BUT. My plans just shifted from Sunday to Saturday, so Sunday will be my reading day! Maybe I’ll do a Saturday to Sunday reading nightshift, but I will get my 24 hours of just me, books and lots of tea.

Can’t wait!
Not sure which I’ll be free from out of Sat or Sun but whichever it is, I’m dedicating pretty much the whole day to it in celebration of finishing work for the year. Sticking this here for now but am currently formulating my plan of attack across various Manga and Books. Volumes will be destroyed 
Update now that I know my schedule:
I’ll be doing the Saturday, from early morning to late at night. All day!
I might be switching around quite a bit in terms of what I’m reading but here is roughly what I want to get through:
- コーヒーが冷めないうちに (hopefully finish the book or get close to it)
- 名探偵コナン (any number of volumes out of 2-5)
- ドラゴンボール (same as above)
- 先生の鞄 (however much I feel like)
- Dr.STONE (possibly)
- ノルウェイの森(上) (maybe a chapter or two if I’m feeling good).
- コンビニ人間 (again maybe a bit depending on how I feel)

12’s readathon goals 
I’ve not been keeping up with the reading/listening challenges in this forum this year. A bit sad, but now I want to slowly get back to reading lots.
During Dec 21st I will try and read a lot, though I will take frequent breaks for my health. Maybe I’ll take a break by reading my non-Japanese backlog and finally decrease that tower on my bedside table…
Planned reads:
名探偵コナン (manga) - not a priority, but fun
魔女の宅急便 - I want to finish the latter part of this finally
チーズスイートホーム (manga) - something simple when I’m exhausted
Goals:
- read at least for one hour in one go
- read for over 5 hours, excluding non-Japanese media
- prioritize Kiki because I want to get the rest of the series soon

Reb’s Goals
Probably gonna do what I did the previous times and read a little bit of everything that’s in progress. Maybe add something else to my reading pile if I get that far. My 24 hours will start from whatever time I wake up on Saturday, which I will find out when I get there.
There’s also a chance I’ll have a sister visiting (she will not tell me which day she’s showing up), which might distract my focus a fair bit. So I’m going to set two lots of goals depending if she shows up or not.

Once again, am returning from my relative forum absence to participate in this challenge! I actually don’t have a whole lot picked out for this challenge this time, so I might end up playing a lot of it by ear
Read more than I did for the fall challenge (counting by time, so more than 9 hours)
Read more than 100 text pages worth (35k characters by my stats tracking standard)
Some of that will be aozora for the advent, some of that might be a visual novel that I haven’t decided on yet, some of that might be books (狼と香辛料? とらドラ?), and then will probably throw some fanfic shorts in there because gonna be honest my mental capacity for reading with my brain after 9 hours is not gonna be very high 
May also throw some manga in there for a break or something, but honestly I’ve been on a really good text reading kick lately and kinda want to see how far I can push that in a day.

I’ve been struggling to find the energy for reading my novel (the need for a dictionary is not encouraging). So, here’s to making some significant progress!
Highly doubt I’ll get past 50, but who knows, having 100 as a written goal might work wonders

It’s looking more and more like I’ll be reading Friday. What I’ll be reading I haven’t decided yet; I want to do what I did before for the fall equinox and read a bunch of my TBR manga, but I’m pretty darn behind on quite a few book clubs now… Which I’m behind on because I think I’m losing interest in general for those ones.
