November means volume 7. And it looks like the cover art has leveled up.
You know the drill.
Up through the end of volume 7, I really like both rival characters. After various anime series I’ve watched over the years, it’s refreshing to see likable rivals.
I’m still not finished with vol. 6 Think I’ll do some reading tonight!
For those of us working our way through volume 7 this month, now’s a good time to begin Pᴀɢᴇ.25 if you haven’t already.
And while I’m here, a few thoughts on Pᴀɢᴇ.24:
I feel like Kikuchi is the adorable male character counterpart to Yuri in the story. I didn’t even realize that role was uncast originally, but here he is.
Great expression!
While this chapter leans a bit heavily into disruption by means of misunderstanding, I like how it was built up and played out. I missed the signs of Kou being sick at his desk, so the apparent cold shoulder and the text message worked well for me reading through.
I wasn’t expecting to see much of Kikuchi’s friends, so I like that they’ve been getting speaking roles. I feel like we may even learn their names soon. (Or have their names already come up? I forget names in this series quickly and easily for some reason, so… Had to look up Yuri’s name already.)
After hearing from Kikuchi’s friend about him, I feel like a whole new perspective has downloaded into Yuri, and here she’s froze up while she processes it all. (The processing seems to span a couple more pages at that.)
It took me until the end of the page to figure out what エンスト and JAF were. Actually, I haven’t looked them up yet. I’ll check now and see if I got them right…
Yup, as I thought, エンスト is “engine stall”. I originally tried to figure something from “engine start” and looked for a negative on the verb, before seeing it’s スト, not スタ.
As for JAF, while I didn’t think of it as being “Japanese Automobile Federation” (I didn’t even try putting words to the letters), I did figure it must be similar to
I don’t really get the concept of creating a mental imagine of another person’s reasons for doing things, as it’s most often bound to be wrong, but I enjoyed the closure of this misconception.
Love that drawing <3
Six days in, and I haven’t started reading Pᴀɢᴇ.26 yet. I know what I’m doing today!
Edit: …and caught up!
